SHORT DAY SAFARIS
DAY TOURS
Kampala City Tour
There are several ways to tour Uganda and one of them is to tour its exuberant capital -Kampala. Besides it being a Capital city, it’s also a district as well, located in central Uganda in the Buganda Kingdom. The current metro area population of Kampala in 2022 is 3,652,000, a 5.24% increase from 2021. The metro area population of Kampala in 2021 was 3,470,000, a 5.22% increase from 2020. The metro area population of Kampala in 2020 was 3,298,000, a 5.1% increase from 2019.
The weather in the city is warm, sunny sometimes extremely rainy throughout the year hence favorable for everyone because of its closeness to the Equator making it a classical destination for one undertaking a day Kampala city tour.
Owino & Nakasero Markets: Visit Owino market known as the first market in Uganda and biggest with over 40,000 vendors and much known for selling second hand clothes at affordable price not forgetting Nakasero market as you enjoy your rewarding 1 Day Kampala City. See how the locals market their food and vegetables as you see different local foods in both markets.
Old & new taxi parks: Come close to the park of minibus-taxies and taxi-vans which transport people to their various destinations. Enjoy how taxi drivers shout in loud voices to let passengers into their taxis. The parks collect a number of people from different origins of Uganda making them busier during evening hours when offices are closing and schools. With the atmosphere in the parks, you will have to enjoy to your fullest seeing the taxi drivers enjoying their business.
Kisenyi slum area: Stepping foot into Kampala’s Kisenyi slum is a sight to behold. A concrete jungle is mostly thought of as a cosmopolitan city centre and this area is a world away from that. According to Uganda’s National Population Housing and Consensus (NPHC) 2014, 67% of the population lives in detached dwellings and a further 12% in semi-detached. The dwellings themselves are a combination of un-burnt bricks, mud, poles, and cement blocks. Roofs are mostly iron sheets or thatched, and floors can be a mixture of stone, cement, tiles, and earth. Understandably, these structures have a short lifespan and are subjected to harsh weather conditions. Overcrowding, cracked walls, dirty floors, faded paint, and rusted materials are common features among the clustered structures many call home. But hope is not lost in the Kisenyi slums. Visiting a place like Kisenyi is difficult, but the human relationships and interactions born from it are worth their weight in gold
Cathedrals, Mosques and Temples:
Uganda is a country of many religious denominations. If interested in religion, visit these worship places on your Kampala city tour. Each cathedral is strategically located on a hill and these include, Namirembe cathedral, Rubaga Cathedral, Nsambya among others. Old Kampala and Kibuli Mosques have rich history attached to them. You are also free to visit Bahia temple if time allows.
Kabaka’s Royal palace (Bulange): With the help of the guide, you will then head to the Kabaka’s palace, visit the first parliament of Buganda kingdom where the members of Buganda meet and sat to discuss matters of the kingdom. Have a sight of the first car and fighting weapons which were used during the Kabaka’s rule, also have a look at the traditional architectures in the palace. The guide will lead you to Amin’s torture chambers where he used to torture the opposition members and kill them and then proceed to the Kabaka’s lake, the biggest man-made lake in Uganda constructed by 52 clans of Buganda. It was used by the king as a channel to Lake Victoria to travel, swim and carry out fishing. It’s a place to sight view the birds around the lake.
Day trips in Entebbe Town
Entebbe town is the main entry point to Uganda via Entebbe International airport. Located on a peninsular, Entebbe town is developing and proving to be the tourism town of Uganda. Entebbe city tour is a rewarding experience most especially for those tourists that have a day or two before the start of their gorilla and wildlife safaris to the country side. Entebbe town offers opportunities for day tours and half day experiences. Being a small town, most of the tourist attractions are within walking distances and as such, one can explore the town on foot.
Botanical gardens: Those staying in Guest Houses or Hotels in Entebbe can be able to walk to Botanical gardens for bird watching, primate watching and plant identification. A small fee is paid (about $3) and guides are always available. You can relax at the beach after your walk and one or two hours should be able to see most of what Botanical gardens is about.
Uganda Wildlife Education Center: Popularly known as UWEC ZOO, Uganda Wildlife Education center is a popular spot for both local and international tourists. It is a gateway to Uganda popular national parks and has most of the animals in a semi natural environment. Before you start your gorilla and wildlife safari, it is better to visit UWEC. Activities at Uganda Wildlife Education center include general wildlife viewing, behind the scenes program, keeper for the day, chimpanzee up close and so many more. Beaches and Boat Cruises on Lake Victoria: Entebbe town has many beaches where one can relax while on Entebbe city tour. These beaches include, Spenna Beach, Imperial resort Beach, Anderita Beach, Lido Beach among others. These beaches are normally enjoyable on weekend but are always open throughout the week. Enjoy swimming and boat rides plus music played on these beaches. Much as marine tourism is not yet developed very well, one can enjoy some boat or canoe ride on Lake Victoria. Entebbe city tours including boat trips see you tour parts of the lake to visit some islands, the equator and to see the sun setting or dawning
Roadside Markets: Entebbe city tour will expose you to some of the road market normally and temporarily organized on some streets in Entebbe. Popular road market happens every Tuesday in Kitoro town where you can shop everything that you want. Some streets are closed off to create space for traders and it is fun to be part of the market.
Ngamba Island: Located about 23kms off Entebbe mainland, Ngamba Island is operated by CSWCT where orphaned and rescued chimpanzees live. Ngamba Island is currently home to 52 orphaned and confiscated chimps, rescued from the illegal pet and bush meat trade. Despite their initial trauma, chimps living at Ngamba have a safe and semi-natural environment in which to recover and eventually thrive over their long lives of up to 60 years. The Sanctuary was founded in 1998, covered on 95 acres of natural forest where the chimps roam and forage daily. Their diet is supplemented multiple times per day much to the delight of visiting tourists who are able to observe the feeding from a viewing platform. The chimps also have the freedom to stay in the forest at night or return to nighttime enclosures where they can build nests and receive an evening meal. Morning boat trips depart at 8:45am and afternoon day boat trips depart Entebbe mainland at 12:45pm. Include Ngamba Island on your Entebbe City tour for an experience of a lifetime.

Jinja is an exciting adventurous district with lots of attractions and activities going to do including the Rafting on the River Nile, boat cruises, Nile Tubing, Zip lining, Bungee jumping, birding and much more.
